Big C:B Update [Aug. 26th, 2005|12:15 am]

[Current Music |Aladdin Sane: Bowie the God]

Greetings Gorgeous Ones.

Everything's been ganning a bit nuts in the old C:B camp of late, so I hear.

starting with the release on Monday 8th August, 2005:

The Mathematician
Be The Weapon
Too Rich For Water...Too Poor For Wine
Beyond the Day

if you havent already bought it please go and get it now, by taking a healthy jaunt down to Rough Trade. Alternatively if you wish to order from the relatively safe and sometimes secure atmospheric hub of your own home, go to the C:B Online Shop but LJ links aren't working at the moment so you'll have to go straight to the C:B website to get it from there.

To accompany this rather phenomenal EP, Corporation:Blend tore the roof off the Camden Barfly on 8th August, playing a blinder to a packed out venue, the gig was generally acknowledged to be among their best performances and personally made me go very wobbly in the knee department. Did this just happen to me or was anyone else there experiencing the same level of knee-behavioural issues?

The EP has sparked growing interest and The Mathematician has received plays on Radio One by Steve Lamacq and XFM, with Lauren Laverne bigging them up as well as National Music press review from good old Rock Sounds - with 7/10 for the EP and some well perceived ramblings about a promising future. On top of this, there have been positive reviews aplenty in fanzines, webzines and online music sites. And so, it seems the revolution begins. If anyone hears of or comes across anymore, please post them or link to the site.

Also, please feel free to post any pictures or c:b related goodness/comments etc to the community as well - more the merrier an all that.

News on more C:B gigs etc soon.

Share the joy, kids.

After a storming night in June CO2n! bring you another fine
selection of bands for the final Friday of the month (July 29th). All
the usual promos, freebies and sweets shall be ready for you
along with these fantastic bands...

CORPORATION BLEND are a slezerock four piece of glam
tinged rock mayhem. Reviews of their new single, "For All My
Sins", have been unanimous in announcing them as absolute
certainties to be the next big thing. THE INTERNATIONAL
KARATE PLUS formed from the fallout of indie pop punkers
Mohobishopi and have been impressing the world with their
Pavement-influenced sound ever since. Straight out of Cardiff
and now promoting their single "Nexus In A Chain Of Thought".
REBUS have been somewhat of a closely guarded secret in their
hometown of Reading. However, that is all set to change as their
forthcoming single has been adopted by Vodaphone to front their
new campaign. Spine tinkling rock energy, see them before the
oiks at Top Of The Pops do!

As usual music before and between bands is supplied by Andy
(quirk) and Meli, the best in new indie and alternative you can
dance to. From 11 Electric Dreams take the decks for 3 hours of
80s alternative and modern goth/glam hits.

Right you lot.

Who's coming aaht to play on Friday night?

How does everyone feel about meeting up at The Cock Tavern, which is right next door to Highbury & Islington tube station, from 6.30 onwards. The boys will be onstage fairly early so it'd be good to get some drinks in together firstly.

If no-one is up for a bit of 'Cock' action then there's always the cheap and particularly nasty chav ridden Wetherspoons around the corner.

EDIT: Doors open at 7pm, Nebraska are on about 7.15pm, Corporation:Blend are on at 8pm so its an early one....May head down the pub for around 6pm then. If anyone is up for joining me at that time drop me a text or call.
